It continues to amaze that such widely divergent generations of Corvette can be melded seamlessly in a well-conceived Resto Mod, and yet here is another fine example of that phenomenon: a 1962 Corvette convertible whose details span the years from its assembly at the St. Louis plant to the C4 generation of 1984-96. A freshly-completed build, it’s foundation is a custom tubular steel frame powder coated to match the Torch Red paint that clothes the fiberglass body. Occupants are coddled in custom heated seats whose Red leather covering replicates the seating surfaces of C5-generation Corvettes; Red leather is also used on the dash pad, door lines and steering wheel rim. In keeping with the car’s overall quality, the LS3 GM 376/480 HP crate engine, auxiliary components and engine compartment are clean and all of a piece. Riding on C4 suspension fitted with C5 disc brakes, C5 chromed wheels and low profile Sumitomo radials, this well-executed ’62 also comes with power steering and brakes, air conditioning, 4-speed automatic and AM/FM radio. $149,000
